So who decides the retail price, me or DeStudio?

The simple answer is the artist!

DeStudio sets a base price and the artist adds their own markup % (in this example 20%). Any applicable taxes depending on your area and where the item is being shipped to will also be included, but we take care of that for you.

Let’s use a large framed print as an example:

  • 20% artist markup on large framed print so:
  • 60.75 base price + 12.15 markup (20%) = 72.90 retail price*

Remember, if you're buying your own prints while logged in, you will only ever pay the base price for your products.

It is also important to note the taxes that are applied will change on a number of conditions but we work that into the price for you. If you would like to know more simply take a look at our Services Agreement Section.

So you take commission from sales?

We do not take commission from artists. Unlike a typical art gallery, DeStudio does not charge our artists any fee to sell, or any commission on any of their sales. Instead, we simply set the base price of the product and let the artist set the retail value (i.e., our prices don’t scale relative to the artists).

You can learn more on how to edit your markup here and there is also some handy information on when do artists get paid over here.

What is a Base Price?

Unlike your typical art gallery, DeStudio does not charge our artists any fee to sell, or any commission on any of their sales. Instead, we simply set the base price of the product and let the artist set the retail value by adding their mark up %.

Depending on the delivery address, the base prices are different to take advantage of local production, differing material costs, and taxes relative to the various artist, production and delivery countries.

When viewing the works on DeStudio, we assume delivery to the country you're currently in, so the base price may update when entering a different country in the checkout.

Approximate base prices are listed below by shipping to / destination country.
